There's is nothing in the world that could prepare you for how it feels to be ostracized by your partner's family. It makes you wonder if its you or them. I never put much thought to the situation because I'm a pretty confident girl, thank God. I have a pretty solid self-esteem and try to assess people based on their actions and not by their legend.
Most of the time I am a pretty good judge of character but when it comes to the in laws I wanted to keep my heart open and welcome people into my life based on the fact that I love my husband.
What a mistake. I wanted to write an article called 'Some people don't deserve your kindness' to explain this very situation.
I don't know if I am the only person who has been ostracized by the in laws for reasons that are so dumb that it makes me want to laugh. Some people did not grow up having a relationship with the Lord and believe that judging people is the optimum way of dominating the world around them. It's an interesting take on how to deal with people you don't like or seem to have different values than your own. What I learned as a child is that if I want to have a relationship with God then it is my ultimate goal to love ALL of his children.
The transient on the street, the prostitute, even the politician is a child of God. My duty, if I love him is to love all people.
I'm grateful I understand that LOVE outweighs hate always. I will show love no matter what. It's not for them....its for GOD. I give him all the glory. AMEN.
Sometimes people would rather put you down than lift you up. Those people are not worthy of your kindness. If someone cannot see you for who you are then they are not worthy of you anyway.
